Examples of God’s Oneness
—Bible List

A List of Bible Examples of the oneness of God. There are several ways in which God is one. We look at what the scriptures reveal about God's oneness. Just a neat simple list for reference.

God is One —Unique, United, Uniform.

  • God’s Uniqueness. "I am the Lord, and there is no other; There is no God besides Me." (Isaiah 45:5, Exodus 20:3). "For us there is only one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him." (1Corinthians 8:6).
  • God’s Unity. "I and the Father are one" (John 10:30). "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Ephesians 4:4-6).
  • God’s Uniformity. "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and I do nothing on My own, but I say these things as the Father instructed Me." (John 8:28). "When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak... for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you." (John 16:13-15).

Examples of God’s Oneness

  • God’s Origin. "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." (Psalm 90:2). "Before Me no god was formed, and after Me no God will come" (Isaiah 43:10).
  • God’s Immortality. "He alone is immortal and dwells in unapproachable light. " (1Timothy 6:16). "Now to the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen." (1Timothy 1:17).
  • God’s Name. "I am the LORD; that is my name; and my glory I will not give to another; nor my praise to carved images." (Isaiah 42:8). "Holy Father, keep them in Your name which You gave to Me, so that they may be one just as We are." (John 17:11). "There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12, Philippians 2:9-11).
  • God’s Creation. "I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself" (Isaiah 44:24). "He alone does great wonders. His loving devotion endures forever. By His insight He made the heavens" (Psalm 136:4-5).
  • God’s Son. "God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). "We are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life" (1John 5:20). "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me" (John 14:6). "There is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1Timothy 2:5).
  • God’s Glory."And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. I have glorified You on the earth. • God’s Fellowship. "For thus says the high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, 'I dwell on a high and holy place, And also with the contrite and lowly of spirit In order to revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of the contrite.' " (Isaiah 57:15).
